excellence in driver's education since 1986

COVID-19 Update: June 1, 2020

We are OPEN!

We can start taking high school student drivers for lessons and tests on the last day of your 2019-2020 school year.

We are working very hard to get all of the students who were forced to halt their lessons in March, back on schedule and ready to take their tests (if eligible).

Once we have a handle on the current students, facilitating their final lessons and tests, we will be able to accommodate new students.  Please call the office, 412-771-5550, for more information about registering for programs and procedures and processes for a smooth transition.

We are closely following the CDC guidelines for safety during the COVID-19 pandemic. Students are asked to wear a mask and have cleaned their hands before entering the vehicle.  The instructor will also have a mask and will disinfect the vehicle thoroughly after each student.

Thank you for your continued support and cooperation!

COVID 19 Update: May 28, 2020

We still have no word from Gov. Wolf about the re-opening of private driver training schools. It is as frustrating for us as it is for you to be in limbo about our fate during this crisis.  We will update our site as soon as we find out ANY information about the reopening of our driving school.

COVID 19 Update: May 15, 2020

Several DMV centers throughout southwestern PA are open for limited servicing. NO road tests are being administered at ANY locations.

Unfortunately we are still not permitted to give behind the wheel instruction or End of Course Skills Tests, even in the Yellow Status phase.

The following information was obtained from WTAE as per Kurt Myers, deputy secretary for driver and vehicle services.

  • customers and staff to wear masks and observe social distancing
  • limited number of customers in site
  • highest needs first: learner's permits, issuing licenses to those who have just moved to PA.
  • Check out DMV website to avoid going to a center unless an in-person visit is absolutely necessary.

Stay safe and we will see you soon!!

COVID 19 Update: May 12, 2020

Even though Allegheny County has been elevated to "Yellow" status, private driving training schools(PDTS) are not allowed to operate, give instruction, or teach practical in-car driving lessons according to the direction of the PA governing bodies:

School Safety Education
Department of Education
Bureau of Curriculum, Assessment and Instruction
Division of Instructional Quality

We are working with other PDTS in the state to understand the reasoning and brainstorm remedies to allow us to follow safety guidelines as well as service our loyal customers.

COVID19 UPDATE: March 19, 2020

At the direction of Governor Tom Wolf dated Thursday March 19, 2020 Kennedy School of Driving, Inc. must close until further notice. We are considered a non-life-sustaining company and required to close for the immediate future.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and hope you will continue doing your on-line theory and practicing with your parent/guardian.

The PA-DMV Website has many resources for you to use while we are unable to take you for your lessons.

We will be able to answer any of your questions, just give us a call, 412-771-5550 or email us, info@kennedyschoolofdriving.com.

ALL OF YOUR UNUSED DRIVING LESSONS WILL REMAIN AVAILABLE TO YOU AS SOON AS WE GET THE OKAY TO REOPEN AND START LESSONS AGAIN.

Please know this is the last thing we wanted to do; we simply had no choice.

Keep driving, have fun, and please...wash your hands!  See you all very very soon.
